Elections

Michigan through election laws has established three potential election dates each year:

  • The May regular election date, which is the first Tuesday after the first Monday in May
  • The August regular election date, which is the first Tuesday after the first Monday in August. 
  • The November regular election date, which is the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November. 

Polling places are open from 7 a.m. until 8 p.m. on election days. The City Clerk is the City's chief elections officer and is responsible for the administration of all City Elections.

May 7, 2019 Jefferson School Millage Renewal

Special Election for Jefferson Schools Millage Renewal Proposal to provide funds to operate a system of public recreation and playgrounds.

City of Monroe residents living in the Jefferson school district will be eligible to vote in this election.

November 5, 2019 City General Election

Important Dates 2019

  • March 23 - MOVE Ballots mailed to military & overseas voters
                       Absent voter ballots must be available for issuance to voters
  • April 22 - Last Day to register in any manner other than in-person
  • April 23 - In-person registration for City of Monroe residents at the City of Monroe Clerk-Treasurer's office begins (must have proof of residency)
  • May 3 - Up to 5:00 PM:  Electors may obtain an absent voter ballot via First Class mail
  • May 6 - Up to 4:00 PM: Electors may obtain absent voter ballot in person at Clerk-Treasurer's office
  • May 7 - Election day registrants may obtain and vote an absent voter ballot in person in clerk's office or vote in person in proper precinct
