Signs
The Engineering and Public Services Department handles signage issues on public roadways, public parking lots, and other City facilities, with the exception of some state trunklines such as US-24 and I-75. Maintenance and replacement of existing signs falls under the Public Services Department work crews.
To report an issue, please click the link at the bottom of the page. For signage issues on US-24, please contact the Monroe County Road Commission at 734-240-5100, and for issues on I-75, MDOT should be contacted at their Brighton office at 810-227-4681.
For new signage or a change in regulations, including signs such as stop signs and no parking signs, City Council approval is usually necessary. These requests are routed through the Mayor’s Traffic Committee, which will review and refer items to the City Council for approval. To place an item on the Traffic Committee agenda, please contact the Engineering Department for further information.
Downed or missing signs that are an immediate threat to public safety, such as stop signs, should be referred to Monroe County Central Dispatch immediately at 734-241-3300.
