Historic District Commission and the
Monroe County Museum System invite the public to a special evening presentation featuring local historian and preservationist Jeffrey Green. This engaging program will explore the fascinating history of “garden cemeteries,” where art, nature, and architecture came together to create peaceful, park-like settings.
Attendees will learn how the rural cemetery movement of the 19th century reshaped public attitudes toward mourning and memorial design, influencing cemeteries across the country—including those in Monroe County.
